Thesis & Key Research

Our strategic practice is grounded in deep investigations into the most challenging contexts of heritage conservation. We apply a rigorous research methodology that bridges theoretical frameworks with the practical realities of construction laws, property rights, and urban planning in both urban and rural environments. We do not just apply standard solutions; we conduct rigorous field research to understand the intersection of conflict, memory, and urbanization.

Post-Conflict Urban Recovery & Identity: We specialize in analyzing the aftermath of armed conflict on historic urban centers. Our research methodology investigates how reconstruction strategies impact social memory, urban identity, and the physical authenticity of the built environment. We propose holistic management models that integrate social resilience into the physical reconstruction process.

Architectural Conservation in Urban & Rural Contexts: Our expertise extends to the comprehensive protection of historic environments across diverse scales—from complex urban fabrics to vernacular rural landscapes. We focus on developing specific preservation methodologies for historic structures, addressing the technical challenges of restoration, structural consolidation, and adaptive reuse in alignment with international conservation standards.

Heritage Law & Regulatory Frameworks: Our research navigates the complex legal dimensions of heritage management. Beyond International Humanitarian Law, we analyze the intersection of construction codes, property and land-use laws, zoning regulations, and national conservation legislation. We examine how these statutory frameworks interact with international texts to ensure legally compliant and ethically sound interventions.
